Chattanooga Trip!

Nick had Wednesday and Thursday off so we headed down to Cleveland and Chattanooga for a mini vacation! Our first stop was Lee's campus and we visited with Mrs. Holden, Mr. Brownlee and other music faculty! Mrs. Holden got Christian his first Lee University outfit! We also enrolled him for the class of 2028! :)
We also visited with several friends that live in the area - so much fun!!!!
On Thursday we spent the day at the aquarium and the Bluff View Art District! So many memories!!! We loved sharing them with Christian for the first time!!!!

Here's a cute video of our aquarium adventure!

New Camcorder!

We have been having fun with our new toy! Here is the first video montage I've done!
A few days ago we were watching some Muppet Shows on DVD and Leo Sayer was the guest and performed this song! Christian loved it and now the song has been stuck in our heads for DAYS!!!

1 Month +

1 Month Checkup August 14th:
12 lbs 15 oz
24 inches long

Christian is a month and a week old now!!! He is great on his feeding schedule and eats like a pro! We grow more and more in love with him every day!!!!

Our new thrills are with his smiles! Finally! He gives us the brightest and sweetest smiles throughout the day! What a cheery disposition!

We will be working toward a sleeping schedule as he grows. Right now, he's doing awesome during the day - I'm trying to follow BabyWise/Baby Whisperer advice:
EASY - Eat (every 3 hours) Activity (after eating for 45-60 min) Sleep (60-90 min) YOU (I take shower, clean, rest, etc!)

He's doing really good at night too - he will have a bad night once in a while but we both get a good amount of sleep. We just haven't transitioned to his crib yet.

Also, we have a new toy!!! Our JVC HDD camcorder came in the mail the other day! Be on the lookout for some cute video clips on youtube! :)

Our life with a 3 week old baby!!!

Oh my goodness! I can't believe 3 weeks have past since the birth of our precious boy!!! We have learned so much and we're so blessed with how wonderful he has been over the past 3 weeks! I've been reading The Baby Whisperer and Happiest Baby on the Block, as well as continuing to read and study Babywise. Books don't have all the answers, but they have been very helpful!
I was very concerned the first few days being home about how much I should nurse him and if he was getting enough to eat!!! I of course fed him every 2-3 hours but he has been a sleepy baby and I worried that he wasn't getting enough to eat at each feeding. At his 1 week check-up the Dr. said he was doing wonderfully! And Nick and I have been weighing him at home and he's gaining about a pound a week!
He went through about 2 days where we both seemed to have the baby blues. He just did not seem happy and was really fussy and gassy for a couple of days. That of course made me feel moody and blue - but we're all good now!!!
The tips in Happiest Baby on the Block have been wonderful! We do the "5 S's" and he calms down when he has been fussy - sometimes he'll go to sleep and sometimes we just keep him swaddled and rock him while we gaze at each others eyes! That's the moment I look forward to every day!!! I love playing "flirty eye" with my little boy!!!

We have so much more to learn but I'm looking forward to every minute of it!!!!

Here are side-by-side pictures of his 1, 2 and 3 week picture!
